| COFFEE Alright... this may bore people way way out, but for serious Coffee drinkers it could interest you. So I just read online somewhere ( yes online, I know) that 99% of all coffee in America is Stale. Well if you're not a coffee drinker then this doesn't apply, but for caffeine addicts... So the premise of the story is that most coffee goes stale 10 days after it is roasted. So when a big company like Folgers or Maxwell House imports their coffee, they do so in mass bulk quantities. That also means that the coffee might sit around for 10 days or more before it ever ships out. Now obviously there are ways that can prevent staleness, like air tight vacuum sealing and such, but I read where a lot of the companies don't have this, and even this cannot keep up the freshness forever. Furthermore, when your Folgers gets sent to Bob's Grocery store and sits there for 6 months, even though it is sealed shut, it is stale when you eventually brew it. So the solution? They say to buy your coffee beans from a local roaster and then you'll have a truelly fresh cup of coffee. They say that most Americans will never experience the tast of a fresh cup of Java... Ha what am I rambling about today??? i have no idea... Did i just bore you with this story. Yes or no? Probably so, but I find it very interesting and I am going to a local roaster to find out if I can honestly taste the difference in Fresh Coffee... Pretty sure that I just became dumber by writing this today... Ciao... ~K.A.C |
