| ESCALATORS OK, something that has recently been bothering me is escalators, but I think there is a broader subject here that I want to touch on... That subject is the RUSH of people in this city of Chicago. Most people know that I grew up in Indianapolis but now that I live in Chicago I've come across a noteable difference. Yes, the people here are in such a rush... But, Indiana people are in the exact opposite end of the spectrum. Like Liberals and Conservatives, the left and the right, and now the rush and non-rushed. And you know what? Both of them tend to instill some rage in me now... This all starts by the people, oh and you know who you are, that feel the need to walk up the escalator and pass you on it. Whereas this seems like not that big a deal, it tends to anger me because in the overall realm of things, you are saving 10 seconds... 10 friggin seconds... So Why then, do you look at me like I'm an idiot for actually just riding the stairs up to the next floor. What is that 10 seconds to you. I feel like i'm an outcast for not walking up the escalator. Where are you people going? I need to know because I feel like your going somewhere important, where i need to be going. This leads into my last point is that now that I've been surrounded by this fast pace lifestyle I can now notice the difference when I go visit home. Indiana people are just chillin... Literally... It's like everyone is just cruisin along waiting to see if Peyton Manning is gonna come out of JC Penney or something... I don't think I used my horn in 8 years of driving growing up, but I'm pretty sure I used my horn 8 times last weekend on my visit to Indy... Got to love it... yes I have been consumed by the Escalator rush... ~K.A.C |
