Sometimes we do things and we have no clue what repercussions will follow. Sometimes we find ourselves being just a little extra spontaneous. Sometimes we live on the edge, that line that says I don't really know what's on that other side but I know I can't stay on this side because I have seen all that this side has to offer. Sometimes big marks show on your timeline that will be significant marker points when you look back at a life lived.
Thursday describes the paragraph above. Thursday I made my transition from small to big, safe to risky, comfortable to uncertain. I took a leap of hope, faith, and certainty in hopes that dreams will push themselves closer to reality. Spontaneous? Yes. Something I have never been, yet I feel more at peace at what lies ahead. Tough times and a whole side of my musical writing that I know awaits right around these corners.
Of course I'm talking about my out of the blue transition from Indianapolis to Chicago. Yes, the Kevin Cochran project has left Indy and heads for the Windy. More people, more places, and more adventures. That's why I choose what I choose. I will not leave my Indy fans behind for you know I will return and I will return bearing gifts. A new album awaits me in the late of August and I promise you will like. Until then please come see me when you see that I am back in town.
Chicago is my next prize and I plan on getting to the top like I've done in every other city that I have resided in. Much bigger I know, but that only means that I can get that much bigger. All I want to do is spread my music and let people hear my words. Chicago will be my new outlet. I do not know what waits for me there only that I can't wait here. Off to the Teezy July 3rd for good. I will miss the nap for sure!

... TIME PASSES, SHOW HAPPENS, IT"S NOW 2:30 A.M. EARLY FRIDAY MORNING...
Show went well, not a lot of familiar faces but this is good because the bar was packed full of new people that heard me for the first time. I did a lot of covers tonight, I don't know just kind of felt it, haven't done that for awhile. A particularly funny highlight was the 4 intoxicated fans up front, yes the dancing ones, that had gone to the Cubs game that day, got loaded, booked tickets to Vegas and were heading out in 3 hours to tackle the casinos. So when a requested O.A.R. crazy game of Poker was played they started doing dances and bumping chests and high fiving. By far the best part of the night, and thank you guys for bringing the excitement.
All in all, it was a really good time and despite the NBA finals and MTV movie awards on, the massive thunderstorms with torrential downpours, the entire place was packed. I hope to see everybody back in two weeks. I promise to bring the same hype and excitement. Peace... K.A.C

The car pulls into the Greater Chicago area and I'm still amazed at what I see. Being familiar with the Chicagoland (my second home) I find myself asking the same questions as last summer. Why is it that every summer Chicago has heavy construction on all 3 routes into the city? Are they trying to keep people out? Keep people in? It just seems to me that maybe if they worked on 1 of the 3 interstates into the city and just finished it, that next year they could fix another one, and then another, but all 3 simultaneously?

2 Hours 16 Minutes 13.1 Miles. Not bad for me. That was my first time even attempting to go that far so I'm pretty happy with the performance.
Last night was sweet by the way at the Mini Party thrown by homey Huebner. I played way longer than I thought I would from like 9 to Midnight. I won't say how many but lets just say I celebrated the night with the best of em. Needless to say waking up hungover, not being able to walk, and I feel like my foot might be broken. Is that normal? Anyway, I'm just sitting here getting my trip in order for the next week. Long days of Car await, but I'm pretty excited about the Chi Town show tomorrow. I'm kind of pissed that I'm missing Sopranos but HBO is money about playing it over and over so I'll be alright. I'll stop there, I'm starting to ramble. I hope to see a bunch of you in the next couple weeks and If I've never met you before, please come up and introduce yourself. I like meeting new folks. Anyway, I'll talk at ya later. Peace ... KAC

What did I get myself into? Yeah so I don't really write in the Journal that often unless there is something that interests me enough to write about on here. So I'm running the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon and I've been "kind of" training for it for the last 2 months. I should mention that it is going on next Saturday May 8th, 13.6 miles. This could be my last entry. I mean 13.6 miles. P-diddy inspired me. No I'm hoping that I'm gonna make it. I need to since I've committed to playing a party later that night for a couple of friends of mine. We'll have to see though. I feel like Rocky baby, duh, duh duh duh...
Nextly, I got a little travelin to do the week after the mini. 3 shows, 3 states, 5 days. Yo, for you Minnesota people, it better be warm up there and I mean like normal warm not 45 degree warm, I'm talking 60 or higher. Is that too much to ask? Not knowing the climate up there I could be way too optimistic. Anyway after running a half marathon, I'll probably be in a wheelchair. Chicago people, I hope to see a bunch of you out at Wise Fools. I haven't played in the windy in like 2 months so hopefully you'll come out even though it's a Monday an all. You better have good reasons not to come. Could be a good one. Well, I'll let you know how this whole run thing goes, and I hope to see a bunch of you in the next couple weeks. Talk at ya... K.A.C

Hello all. So I was up in Chicago Last weekend for the Joe's show. Hard to compete with 17th floor because they are so good but I had a blast up in the front. It was good to see a bunch of you up there for the show. Met a few new Kevin Cochran fans!
On the home-front... Let's see studio, studio, studio. Its hard to get motivated for the recording process because it is so damn tedious, but it is coming along. 50+ hours into it and more than that to go. Just wrapped up the 4th song on the record and now we're looking at 4 or 5 more to go. I was originally gonna put like 12 tracks on it but I think I'm gonna keep it around 9 or 10.
To tell you about the album. It's definitely gonna be a roller coaster of an album. What I mean, is that there isn't really a general theme behind it, more along the lines of a whole bunch of different ideas. It's gonna start fast and then go to my mellow side. People are always telling me, "you should do more upbeat rock songs". I would say that this one has a few more faster tracks but I must say that my serious emotions come out in slower mellow songs so this one will have it's share of both. There will be a couple of repeats on the album but there will be more new songs than old and I think you'll find that overall it's a lot better than what I've put out before.
Got to get back to the studio. Look forward to seeing some of you in the next coming months on the tour. Starts end of March, right after I get back from Vegas. Rock Star..., Peace out... KAC

Wow, so in case your wondering, I didn't really disappear for 2 months. I was really abducted by Mars Space Rovers and sent for experimental purposes to the red planet. Or, at least I feel that way at least.
In all actuality, I've been completely busy with the album and tour stuff. Took a little hiatus into WZPL on the 12th and had a great time with AJ and Chris. Those dudes are pretty sweet. I've finished a couple of songs for the album, and I'm knocking on some serious wood here but I think it's gonna be done by March but we'll see. Let's see I'm going from recent to least recent. New Years Eve a.k.a. my birthday and one hell of an experience this year. I was in Chicago for like 6 days. It was probably the biggest adventure I've had in quite a while. I'd probably get into some major trouble if I even spoke of some of things that went down. Just trust me on the fact that it was fun filled. Waking up January 1st I soon realized that I had just turned 24 however, and that makes me quite nervous. I mean at 24 your supposed to feel responsible and old. I still feel like I'm 18. I think I'll keep it that way.
Looking forward to Joe's next weekend considering I haven't strummed some tunes off in about 2 months, trust me a much needed break for what is in store in the next 4 months. Hope to see a bunch of the Chi-town crew up there and hope to get a little rowdy afterward.
Indiana has like 8 inches of snow on the ground right now. First accumulation of the year. Kodi, my 120 pound Leonberger and I decided to take off today and play in the snow. Who do you think won??? Hard to believe that little mut can grow into this... Peace.... K.A.C.

Sorry if I have let anyone down on the journal page. If you've made it this far into my webpage I salute you anyway. But I thought I would update all who cared about what is going on in my world right now. November was an insane month. So many shows, so little time. Trying to think back. First Charlotte was a little nutty. My first experience on the atlantic coast. Needless to say i wanted to keep driving south to see my florida beaches, but i had to get back. Kentucky, pretty wild as well. It's not always the easiest thing, a hoosier in Wildcat country. It's like being in a foreign land but it was a good time. First night there was probably the craziest. I didn't get in til around 10, and I realized that they had me shacked up at the, ah what was it called " the ____ house", something like that... Beside the point, because it should have been called "the Shining"... I walk in to check in, carrying my guitar an all, and boom the entire lobby is filled with Kevin Cochran fans from another generation. Joking... Needless to say the youngest person i saw there was at youngest 75... As i'm walking down the long corridor hallway, i'm just praying that two twins don't pop up and want to play catch with me... Terrifying experience, but I survived my first night in Kentucky land. It didn't stop there, the next night I was drinking some Maker's and water with the hotel bartender from the Radisson, and guess who walks in, Mr. David Carradine kung fu master, into the bar and starts chatting with some of the other people killing their livers on this Saturday night. For some of you younger people like myself, I didn't know the T.V. show that he was famous for, but I did know him from Tarrantino's new film "Kill Bill", because he plays the leading role as the bad guy in that movie, he's Bill for god sake.... All in all, Lexington, was a good time, met some good people down there, and met the Kung Fu master David Carradine.
` As far as everything else, I am getting everything in line for the new album. This seriously will be my first real musical project that I have ever done. I mean "Everywhere" was recorded in two weeks, and right now this one is probably gonna take 3 months. THis will also be the first time I am not producing the album myself, so I'm pretty eager to get this thing rolling with an outside producer. Not to mention that I'm bringing in a whole band and every song is gonna be thought of as a journey... Crazy crazy crazy... All in all, there will be probably 5 songs from Everywhere but completely different versions as well as 6 to 7 new songs from the last year of writing. So I'll let you all know how this one goes... As far as shows go, keep checking the site, because I'll be most likely doing some shows here and there just so I don't get cabin fever from this CD...Peace and love... K.A.C.
OCTOBER 26, 2003
Buckeye fans everywhere, even preceded to chant OSU fight songs during the performance. All good though, I decided to break out a little O.A.R. cover to stir them up. Needless to say it was a fun show, a whole bunch of people, a little bit of alcohol consumption, and overall I thought I played a pretty good show. Always fun to be back in the home town. I saw a whole bunch of people that I hadn't seen a while. Good times... KAC

First show tonight in about 2 weeks. Met some cool photographers at the last show who offered to do my new album art for free. Looking forward to the new project in November and also hope to get back to Chicago land soon. We'll see but check back for updates. Check you later... KAC
